Artist Statement

I translate the physical world around me by examining and exaggerating small details in nature often overlooked. These specific elements are illustrated through use of pattern, variety of brushstroke, opacity of paint and vivid colors. I work with glazes, transparencies, opacities, and consistencies, creating variety by contrast emulating that of the natural world. Throughout the process, I try to keep an open mind, allowing myself to trust my instincts, so that the painting is genuine and evolves fluently. I want the viewer to leave their reality as I do when I create my work, entering into the space through the properties of the painting. I am inspired by the configuration of the natural. I want to illuminate often-disregarded fragments found within a larger context to convey their individual importance through the medium of paint.

Owner and Designer BIO

My name is Leah Barranco, I am a freelance graphic designer and artist. I have expertise in a variety of art mediums that include watercolor, gouache, acrylic and oil paint. Working with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and InDesign I’ve created mixed media book illustrations, logos, wedding invitations, and greeting cards. I come from a fine art and education background with a BFA and MA in Education. From each, I’ve learned the importance of technical ability, experimentation, and human connection.

I’ve developed the motto design from the root ideas and watch it grow into something of its own. My goal is to help small businesses, entrepreneurs, and authors with affordable designs that transform their ideas from abstract thoughts to concrete images. We live in a world where one look tells a story, what story do you want to tell?
